Hara-Kiri (2011)

I liked the original, and I like Takashi Miike, and I liked his remake.

The Hunt for Gollum
A really impressive independent movie based on Aragorn's hunt and capture of Gollum which occurred in the 17 years between Bilbo's 111th birthday and the beginning of Frodo's journey to Rivendell.

Was this based on a work by Tolkien?

The Monuments Men

Based on the true story of a group of soldiers tasked to saving valuable pieces from art that were stolen by the Nazis during World War II.

Yes, the movie is historically inaccurate and yes, there is A LOT of humor in the movie, but otherwise, The Monuments Men is an enjoyable war movie with great performances from all cast members.

Bachelor Knight (original US title: The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer)

A 1947 film-of-its-time comedy starring Cary Grant, a teenage Shirley Temple, and Ray Collins.

17-year-old Susan Turner (Temple) falls for sophisticated bachelor Richard Nugent (Grant) upon his giving an arts lecture at her high school.

Susan's psychiatrist uncle (Collins) convinces Nugent to play along with the charade of falling for Susan. He believes antagonising Susan will just make her more determined to be with Nugent so if he reciprocated her feelings and embarrass and bore her, she'll grow out of her crush (the film reflects the social upheaval of teenage rebellion that swing music would later evolve and accentuate with rock and roll). Over the course of the film, Nugent slowly falls for Susan's elder sister and district judge, Margaret.

Quite enjoyable in a cheesy kind of way. And I learnt what a "Bobby-Soxer" is.
