I watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Visually very well done.

Certainly. Many of Hitchcock's movies are well done.

Hmm, I'd say The Birds, Rear Window, and Psycho.

Up in The Air

Paramount comedy-drama by Jason Reitman (some may know him as the originator of Juno) starring George Clooney. In short, the film follows solitary man Ryan Bingham (Clooney) as he goes about his job 'downsizing' (firing people).

Ryan's philosophy of holding no emotional baggage and travelling light (philosophically speaking) is seriously challenged when he has to mentor young pretty rookie Natalie, who is ill-equipped emotionally to deal with dismissing people via video-conferencing.

I don't usually go for movies starring Clooney as I personally don't like the actor, but there was something rather engaging about this one... Not bad at all.

Sabotage

Earlier Hitchcock film about an undercover Scotland Yard detective who goes on the trail on a saboteur in London.

The Prestige.

about two rival magicians in London in the late 19th century, obsessed with creating the best stage illusions, creative one-upmanship with tragic results.

i saw it on a plane flying home, i honestly wasn't expecting the film be set so early. also there were no subtitles, so it was hard to understand what some people were saying, and the plane landed before the movie ended.

saw Lucy on monday at the theater.

hmmm... first half was good and interesting. then it just went...lame.
i wished she did "more" stuff.

or better yet. i wish it was just a live action version of Elfen Lied. the main character in that anime was Lucy.

Open Grave.

First rate psychological horror film. A man who we later learn is named Jonah awakens in a pit full of corpses, and completely with amnesia. Soon after he is rescued by a mute woman, he finds he is in a vast wood in a rain storm. Discovering a nearby house, he finds others who also suffer from amnesia. and who are all suspicious of one another - but especially of him. The next day, they find the woods are filled with corpses tied to trees, and living maniacs either chained in sheds or wandering the woods. Jonah and the others begin having flashbacks of terrible things that had happened previously. The truth, which they gradually remember, is much larger and terrible than any of them could imagine.

Anticipation for Mad Max: Fury Road has got me wanting to revisit the original trilogy again. I'm gonna marathon the Blu-rays one after the other. Just finished the first.
