"Faces" by John Cassavetes - without a clearly defined story line, this film can be a bit hard to get in to. But I've seen it 4 or 5 times now and I always come away liking it more and more. What Cassevetes does very well is to dig into the details of people; to show the characters as real, complex humans who have all the varieties of emotions that we experience in real life. Sometimes it's nice to watch a story that makes everything seem simple and easy to understand. But we also need films that depict the complexity of people without providing pre-digested answers.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
