Kolchak: The Night Stalker [1974–1975] episode 12: "Mr. R.I.N.G." [Jan 10, 1975]

Carl Kolchak is a newspaper reporter who frequently investigates bizarre and paranormal stories.

"MR. R.I.N.G." is a very advanced robot, developed by the Tyrell Corporation, that has developed an independent mind and and interest in ethics, etc., and this puts it at odds with its developers.

You know, that the company was the Tyrell Corporation was completely missed by me!

Miss Scarlet

Series 6, episode 1 - Secrets and Lies

First episode of the the new series 6 on PBS.

Episode 2 is should be released 18 January, 2026, according to the IMDB. However –

Quote:
Miss Scarlet Season 6 has its broadcast premiere on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, 8/7c. You will be able to stream all six episodes starting Dec. 7 when you watch with PBS Passport, an added member benefit.

I am a member. I have donated to PBS and NPR for years. I'm going to keep the political commentary out of this, and that's really difficult.

Bigfoot Took Her.

Three part docu series in which a forty year old mystery is examined, involving an abused girl left with her drug dealing/drug addict uncle after her parents died, who had been taken into the California wilderness by a local character named Skip, who came back alone, claiming Bigfoot had kidnapped her. As insane as this story sounds, this Skip character got away with what by the end was determined to have been the girl's murder at his hands, and who had probably killed other girls, too.

Last night we watched Red Dwarf [1988-?] season 9 [April 10–12, 2009] which is a single story told in three episodes. Like the rest of Red Dwarf it is set some 3 million years in the future and has very few characters. And as the Season 9 story is told there are a number of things that allude to Blade Runner!

Rifftrax: The Careless Years (1957)
Rifftrax app on Roku - my library - title selected at random.

A very young Dean Stockwell and Natalie Trundy are two teens madly, deeply, passionately in love and just cannot wait to get married, despite the advise from their parents to wait. Laws are broken, tempers flair, blows are exchanged.

Bridget Nelson and Mary Jo Pehl do the riffing.

Oh I should watch that

I started watching Angels In America last night
It's interesting and I'll watch another one tonight

It's set during the AIDS pandemic in the 80s but there's kind of a fantasy twist to it

I think I'll be able to form a better opinion on after I've watched another one

Angels In America is a great show. As you probably know, the villainous Roy Cohn was a real life person, homophobe, closeted homosexual, and Trump mentor, who had died of AIDS.

Rooms, an episode from December 1974

These programmes were shown on ITV in 1974-75 and 1976-77. The latter series was in continuous soap opera format, and I watched all the episodes a few months ago, whereas the former consisted of self-contained stories shown in two-part episodes.

The funny thing is that back in the day, these were regarded as low-budget 'daytime tv' rubbish which few people would ever have admitted to watching, whereas today they tend to be acknowledged as minor masterpieces of popular drama, which they are, at least compared with the garbage that gets made for television these days.

.hack//SIGN (2002)

Episodes 1 - 25

I've found two places that stream the series.

Internet Archive
YouTube

I watched it from DVD.

I started watching The Tunnel when I was in bed last night

It's really good
I was put off watching it before because it's subtitles but it's not too bad

Well worth a watch if you like a good old serial killer cat and mouse type mystery

It is a few years old though

It is one of a number of related TV series.

The Bridge [2013–2014] (on the Mexican/U.S. border) is in English so you'd not need subtitles with it.
And its Autism consultant also happens to own Wrong Planet.
