Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Just saw it and it was real good. The kid has Aspergers, but the whole movie is not about that subject. But it is about him. I don't think Hollywood over it did it here. Great movie. Just Google it for the description. Not a dull moment. Great action movie.

Here is a description.

A nine-year-old amateur inventor, Francophile, and pacifist searches New York City for the lock that matches a mysterious key left behind by his father, who died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Oskar (Thomas Horn) is convinced that his father (Tom Hanks), who died in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, has left a final message for him hidden somewhere in the city. Feeling disconnected from his grieving mother (Sandra Bullock) and driven by a relentlessly active mind that refuses to believe in things that can't be observed, Oskar begins searching New York City for the lock that fits a mysterious key he found in his father's closet. I loved the book, but hated the movie. in the movie, the kid is such an annoying a**hole. it might be down to bad acting, but I just couldn't feel any sympathy for him. in the book he's portrayed as this nice quirky kid that you'd want to hang out with and protect.

the only good part about the film is Max von Sydov.

When they had him having a sensory overload, it blew my mind--I had always wondered when someone in Hollywood would get it right, and that floored me. And that was about an hour before the kid says, "yeah, my dad had me tested for Aspergers but the test was inconclusive."

Plus, to the outside world...Aspies can seem to be a-holes.

Movie blew my mind....and damn it, i had the worst onset attack of allergies at the end! Got all stuffed up and eyes watered and not sure why...

I loved the movie!
It was unlike anything I thought it'd be.

I cried at the end when he told his mom "I thought only dad could think like me."
