Any CSI: NY fans?

Well, I'm a huge CSI: NY fan, can't wait for the new episodes (well, in Germany we're waiting for season six at the moment). I was thinking about buying the US DVDs of season six, but probably the transport to germany would be quite expensive. And then there's the problem with the regional code... Well, doesn't matter, what I actually wanted to ask is who is your favourite character, favourite episode etc. My favourite character is certainly Mac, I really like the way he behaves. Flack and Stella are great too. I'm not such a big fan of Danny or Lindsay, but they're alright too.

So, I want to hear your opinions....

I sometimes catch the old episodes of CSI NY on cable. I mainly watch CSI :Las Vegas one though.

I've always liked Gary Sinise as an actor, and CSINY is certainly a thousand percent better than CSI MIAMI, which (along with Caruso) blows. Actually, I originally started watching CSI VEGAS when it started because I'd seen William Petersen in the film Manhunter (the first film incarnation of Red Dragon and Hannibal Lecter), and he was so good in that, playing almost the same part he played as Gil Grissom, I knew CSI would have to be good, and it was, for quite a long time.

Unfortunately, I was never fond of Jorja Fox or the Sara Sidle character, and when they introduced a romantic storyline between her and Grissom, I knew CSI had jumped the shark. Then not only did Petersen leave, which was the death knell, they brought Sidle back. Fishbourne is excellent, but I'm just over CSI altogether now. I don't even remember to turn on the television when its on anymore.

I do think CSINY suffers a bit from the whole formula, which has become both cliched and hackneyed now after 12 years and three separate incarnations. I find if you close your eyes and just listen to the script, as it comes straight from the actor's mouths, without any visual interpretation whatsoever, the dialogue is so predictable and formulaic now, it makes me wince with embarrassment for the performers who are having to say these pathetic lines. "Sure, I hated the guy. I'm not sorry he's dead - but I didn't kill him!" Oh, shut up, puh-leeze.

Let Tarantino direct another episode. The dialogue won't be any better, but he'll blow more stuff up.

Only watched Down the Rabbit Hole episode, can't stand that detective Stella Bonasera

I am a veteran of all three CSI shows.

I watch these programmes but I have to say I am very cynical about them. I think they are too glossy, lack good storylines, and are very predictable. I laugh at the way the gulity ones confess all at the end and the cast come out with smug comments all the time. I really think the makers of these programmes know too well how to keep a viewer watching. The colours, camera work, actractive actors and actresses etc all keep people watching. But there is very little substance in these shows.

If you want really good whodunit crime dramas you only need watch the Prime Suspect programmes.
