Here is a film I've never seen discussed but is a great film for us aspies. "Being There" starring Peter Sellers and Shirley Maclaine in a film based on the Koszinski novel. I remember seeing it in high school and I want to see it again. Sellers plays a savant who learns everything from television and then gets into odd situations.

What do you think?

Chance is no savant. He's mentally ret*d, and has the mindset of a child.

best scene in movie......"i'm hungry, will you fix me a sandwich". second best scene......."you look much smaller on tv". just a great film, shows how great an actor peter sellers was.

He clearly is of extremely low intelligence. Therefore, he is mentally ret*d.

I wouldn't call him ret*d. I was always wondering if he was the bastard son of the estate owner. Does anyone remember the very end when he goes to the little pond, I thought that was a nice touch.

I've seen at least one Peter Sellers thread on WP so I thought maybe someone would appreciate this film.

I go to my library computer to get the DVD and it is filed under the subject heading "Savant Syndrome". It got me kinda excited.

It's been over twenty years since I've seen this film. I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I have this project going to see films related to aspie or autie.

Would you rather I started another "Adam" thread, or would you like to discuss something different for a change?
