Codecs and players for Anime.

Hey all,

For the past couple years it seems, I've been using CCCP and Media Player Classic to watch Anime. But I've been noticing that theres a new breed of anime where the subs don't display with my setup (Sorry, no examples, I download any Anime I see that I don't recognize just in case it's good). After many years, I'm upgrading my laptop, so while I'm waiting for it I'm downloading drivers and whatnots so I'm ready. So I'm just wondering what Codecs and Players everyone else is using. VLC is popular I know, but I don't really like it. It feels too much like a Linux app to me. Nothing against you penguin heads. It's just not for me.

So what is everyones favorite anime/media player and Codec Pack?

Not enough information about subtitle format.

That said, my "solid" backup is the FFDSHOW codec. I don't like stupid codec packs which mix and match different crap together. One tool like FFDSHOW is better, because it is stable, highly versatile, and has a variety of options for all codecs it supports (which is most by far).

It has various advanced subtitle options. Try it. I always use it for subtitled films (idx/sub/srt).

I just use K-lite codec, it contain about all codec you will ever need.

Gom Player is really versatible, but on my computer the picture tend to take a green tone.

My preference go to SMPlayer, also very versatible.

Both of them also got they own codecs for MP4. (It was been useful to me on my old 1200MHZ computer.)

Use Media Player Classic and the K-Lite Codec Pack. It plays everything, and you can easily switch between language tracks and subtitle options.
