Quote:
Well, that was quick! On the heels of yesterday’s news that he was officially joining the cast of The Dark Knight Rises, Variety is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing Alberto Falcone, son of Tom Wilkinson’s Carmine Falcone, but better known perhaps as the Holiday Killer. So what do we know about Alberto?

Patterned slightly after an amalgam of Michael and Fredo Corleone, Alberto was never allowed into the Carmine family crime business by his father Carmine, who saw his son as ineffectual but also wished to spare his the pain of a life of crime. Alberto decided to break into the family business by rubbing out members of both the Falcone family and other rival families, usually by tying in the murders to a holiday.

The presence of Alberto Falcone might mean that the script is following the “Dark Victory” storyline, where Catwoman suspects that she might be Carmine Falcone’s illegitimate daughter. Or it could mean nothing! After all, Christopher Nolan hasn’t been shy about picking and choosing what bits of story and canon to follow and which to ignore. But allow me a moment of grief that Gordon-Levitt truly will not be playing the Riddler. God, he would have rocked that part.

Does this mean that we might see Calendar Man as well?

Interesting indeed, shame JGL isn't playing the Riddler. Still, i like the idea of Alberto Falcone, maybe we could see another Long Halloween homage?

If the Riddler was in The Dark Knight Rises, I would prefer John Simm (Life On Mars) to play the Riddler, not Joseph Gordon Levitt

Have to admit, you think outside the box when casting Batman villians.

So... Is the Riddler going to even be in this movie?

No Riddler. Alberto Falcone is not the Riddler. He's the Holiday Killer.

Having grown up a Marvel guy, with only general knowledge of the DC universe, I can honestly say, I haven't the slightest idea who Alberto Falcone is.

I hope Kara Tointon (Dawn Swann in Eastenders) plays Talia Al Ghul

If you ever get the change and it isn't beyond you, check out Batman: The Long Halloween. It's where Nolan took a lot of his influence for the storyline and some scenes.

The book essentially ends up being Batman meets Godfather meets Silence of the Lambs (but less cannibals/mutilation).
