Best/Worst/Scariest/Coolest Disney ... ? (film spoilers)
I want to do a thread about most striking or impressive characters, but I can't decide. I've been involved in "Most Evil Disney Villain" discussions, but I'd like to expand on it. I don't adore Disney but very few people are unfamiliar with their films in western culture these days and it gets interesting to look at how they try to freshen up the same tired patterns. Some very nice work has come from them, although sometimes with a little self-thievery (as seen in several Youtube videos of the same topic, showing the places where the Disney company just re-used the same things in movie after movie for a while, I'll post it if anyone wants).
What got me thinking about it was Tangled. If this film had come out, even in 2D, 20 or 30 years ago, things would have been different. For the most part, better... but just about everything they put in gave me deja vu, with one notable exception.
HERE'S THE SPOILER!! !
The dude died! Now, it isn't only that he died that strikes me, and it strikes me as awesome, mind you, and here's why... In all the films, with all the princes or heroes, and all the struggles and risks, I can not recall ever once seeing the guy in the movie actually take action to save the girl KNOWING he WOULD DEFINITELY DIE as a result of his actions! Well, Hercules came pretty close, but still. It comes out even of course, since he started as a criminal. Eugene, I mean.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't revel in suffering. It was just so danged heroic.
Alright, so that's my nomination for Most Awesome "Prince" in a Disney film.
Any rebuttal or similar discussion is welcome here... any film company that makes similar films may also be mentioned (although that gives Eugene a real rival with Megamind entering the running).
So you can go back to most evil villain, or go on to most annoying princess (or coolest) bearing in mind that we don't get technical about whether this princess is actually of royal blood... they just call them all princesses. We can have runners-up (before Eugene died to save Rapunzel, I was rather partially to Prince Philip), dumbest plots...
I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew, here...

I liked how disney villians always had their last stand on tall building so that when they died it would be because they tripped, not because the hero killed them.

And the nomination for mostly grisly villain death in a Disney film...
It's even gorier out of context, in't it?
Which reminds me, the Sea Witch had a pretty nasty finish.

Okay, you left me behind on a few of those, especially the songs. I remember the Yodel song and A Whole New World... Maybe I just don't know the actual names of the others. Are any of the villain songs from The Princess and the Frog? That was a beauty of a villain.
I do see where you're coming from with the princes... Aladdin does do a lot more, being the main character after all, but still he does distinguish himself, and Prince Charming is bloody useless. But the princesses are complicated... Snow White is so punchable, Cinderella actually quietly cracked jokes on her step-sisters, Tiana's voice was so easy on the ears... so many factors to sort. I'm pretty sure my favorite is Mulan, though. Rapunzel is in the running just for having clocked a guy with a fry pan and stuffed him into her wardrobe, and afterward whanging herself in the head with the pan while showing off.
