I've been hearing about this film from a few people and from other places in the Web.

The film is with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn (one of my favorite actors) and I'm a little bit confused on what this film is about.

I've seen the film once before and I really didn't get the plot of the film though it was really heart-touching and excellent.

Anybody know what the plot for the Tree of Life is about?

I personally couldn't stand this movie lol. It actually looks really good from the trailers, but like you said when you actually sit down and watch it, it has no plot. I mean, I kind of understand what it was trying to do, it was trying to show the history of all life and show that we're all interconnected or something, but in my opinion it really failed. If it just had some consistency rather than a jumbled collection of unrelated scenes (not to mention the super-creepy whispering going on through the whole movie) it may have been ok, but as it is I found it rather un-enjoyable.

It was not his best movie.
The thin red line was so beautiful.
For me the tree of life was all about grief,
and our struggle to connect to ourselves
and each other. Beats watching so many
empty and boring films that Hollywood
churns out.....However, it is true that few
people, unless they are contemplatve in
nature, will think this film is anything else
than a lot of hot air......for me, it was my film
of the year.

I have to agree that this was not Mallick's best film. I've yet to see Thin Red Line, but I did like The New World. Maybe because it didn't do anything too weird with the liniar structure of the story. Now I can watch a film that doen't have a liniar storyline (Pulp Fiction, Memento), but I don't believe this is one of Mallick's strengths.
