Is anyone watching Hannibal, the T.V. series on NBC? One of the leading characters is an Aspie, played played by Hugh Dancy who also played an Aspie in the movie -Adam-.

Yes, I'm watching the series, and I remember on the first episode when he said he was Aspergers-like. So far, I haven't seen much to corroborate this in his character. I don't think the writers did much research. I think they just wanted to throw around what they felt was a trendy thing. The guy is a little quirky, but seems like he has other problems (maybe more like schizophrenia or something, I don't know) and not really Aspergers. What do you think? I could be wrong.........

I'm following the show. So far, I do like it, particularly since Mads Mickelson isn't trying to emulate Anthony Hopkins, but is trying to make the character his own. In a sense, there's a general departure from the movies and novels in that the series is set in recent times - such as when Hannibal's irritating, clingy patient talks about how he wished he could have befriended Michael Jackson and saved him.
While the portrayal of Will Graham is interesting with the Aspie dimension, I personally think there's too much of a diversion from the source material, in that he is a bachelor and loner in the show, rather than a married man and father, as he was portrayed in Red Dragon.
