I can't understand how Raj can play Warcraft so much on a Mac. And yet without any cooling accessories. It just doesn't make any sense! I have a Mac and I have enough trouble streaming video never mind gaming...

Troubles streaming? I would rather think that's an issue with your flash, not the hardware of Apple laptops.

I don't know a lot about Apple, but I do think the hardware is fully capable of running an almost ten year old game. WoW also has a Mac version, so I don't see why it couldn't work. He might have a highly spec'ed laptop, though.

But most of all, just because it looks like he's playing, it doesn't mean he actually is. IIRC, when they play Halo, they're just mashing all possible buttons on the controller like they're trying to kill the actual controller, not eachother.

Macs are made to look cool, not necessarily to perform well, especially with things like games and Flash.

from my experience, Macs are more for work and development or for people who need a simpler environment to search the web. They're not really designed for gaming with the exception of Power Macs that are mostly customizable.

If you are trying to play games on a mac, you'd be better off buying a cheap computer from PC world (or an equivalent) as you'd have better compatibility and easier solutions to problems.

(just a side note, i use both Macs and a windows PC. I do 3D modeling and Graphics design on the Mac mostly with little touch ups and Gaming on my PC. It just works out better like that.)

If you're running a lo-end Mac (Mac Mini, iMac, MacBooks, etc), you have to deal with the video chip (Intel Graphics, which is not good for much of anything), in addition to sharing RAM for video memory (the same damn technique used on PC that have integrated GPU'd on the motherboard.). At least the Mac Pro towers give a choice of GPUs (nVidia GeForce vs. ATI Radeon. It could be worse: Apple could have been using the SiS chipset, which have even worse performance that Intel GPU's)

In my opinion, Macs are most focused on design, modeling, video editing, image manipulating, etc. Linux is more used for development as it is less limited than Mac. Macs a re more of a "always works out of the box" thing.

My Mac runs WoW with no problems and it's 3 years old, is missing most of the screws from the bottom, has been dropped a few times and had water on it. Having said that, I'm quite surprised it's survived so well for this long considering Apple products are made to break

Is your mac overheating? Maybe there is too much dust in the cooling fans. I sometimes need to open up my pc to clear out the dust.
