Do you remember that short lived sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon called 'raising dad'.

I remember Kat Dennings character said to her dad (played by Bob saget) "your not a young hip Black man"

Do you think that line was a bit inapproporiate or taking a bit too far for a Nickelodeon kids programme? Maybe that's the reason why the show was cancelled after such a short run?

For a kid's show? I should think so. How many years ago was that on?

2001-2002, one season only.

Jamesy reached back 14 or 15 years for this one.

Well, even though fourteen or fifteen years really isn't that long ago, standards have certainly changed in that time, in particular concerning racial sensitivities.

Why do you think that line was inappropriate?

Well, if Bob Saget had failed at math, and his kid said, "You're not a smart Asian kid," that, too, would have been inappropriate. I think it's a matter of stereotyping. I'm sure not all blacks are hip, as not all Asians are great at math, even though the speaker might perceive those things to be compliments.

Other inappropriate things that happened in that sitcom where.......

An episode based on sex education
Kat dennings character being punched in the face by a bully in school
Kat dennings character getting intimate with her boyfriend

Do you think those factors could have contributed to the show being cancelled?

Maybe. To be honest with you, I didn't even know the show in question existed till reading this thread.
