Amanda Waller-- a US Senator.


I'm looking forward to the movie and I'm NOT upset or worried about the casting... Except for one bit. There's a rumor that Holly Hunter is playing a Senator in the movie. I won't be very happy if she turns out to be Amanda Waller. I'd rather have Angela Bassett back. She was one of the few good things in the GL movie.

So, true believers, what do you think? Does anyone besides me even give a crap about any of this?

Couldn't care less about the movie, but I'm enjoying the Sad Batman memes.

If it's true that this is based on The Dark Knight Returns, I wonder if Batman is going to kick Superman's ass.

^^^ I think it's more like certain elements are inspired by DKR. Just like certain elements of the Nolan films were inspired by Year One, The Long Halloween, Knight Fall, No Man's Land, etc...

My fanboy speculation:

In DKR there was a conflict between Bats and the government with Superman acting as a government agent. I think the movie will reverse this. We'll have a conflict between Superman and the government/LexCorp with Batman acting as a government agent.

I think Batman will kick Superman's ass with the help of a wee bit o' kryptonite synthesized from the wreckage of that Kryptonian terraformer from MoS.

Then, once Superman is neutralized, I think we'll have a new/real threat pop up that ONLY Supes can deal with...

I'm guessing that the new threat will be some kind of Superman/kyrptonian-derived bioweapon developed by the government/LexCorp gone wrong. (recall the empty stasis tube in the scout ship from Mos--I think there's another Kryptonian (Supergirl) on Earth)

Batman will be forced to ally with Superman to deal with the threat. etc, etc...

Ah, so that's what it is called. It is indeed a follow-up to Man of Steel, but no connection to the Nolan Batman trilogy.

If this was just Batman/Superman, I could get behind it.

I think they're trying to cram too many heroes in. Just call it "Justice League" and be done with it!

(Also, I know it has been said before, but rebooting Batman this soon?)

^^^ Of all those other heroes listed, I think Wonder Woman will be the only one to have more than a cameo in this movie...

They're supposed to be shooting the Justice League movie back to back with BvS. So, they need to cast and establish those characters early.

I think shooting those movies like that is a HUGE risk. I thought Man of Steel was great, but a lot of others didn't. It was hardly an unqualified hit. Despite all this Warner Bros./DC are betting about half a billion dollars that these two movies will do Avengers type box office... I hope it happens, but I'm far from sure that it will, considering DC's track record with movies.

If BvS pulls a 'John Carter' things will get really ugly over at DC...

Well, they did several Marvel heroes in one go with The Avengers two years ago and that worked, so who says lightning doesn't strike twice?

But you're right. This movie has to work or the DC Cinematic Universe will be over before it has began.
