Any comic readers worried they aren't gonna pull this off?

Glenn might be safe, because I don't see a replacement oriental anywhere, plus he's too much of a fan favorite.

I think they wrote Abraham's book death out of the series. Another character met his fate instead, which is good. Kirkman has expressed regret that he killed off Abraham when he did, which makes me think he'll be around for a while longer. I don't think Abraham will replace "...." in the finale. His death also wouldn't have the same emotional resonance since he is more of a Warrior character.

Morgan seems an obvious replacement because, why was he brought back into the series? But, there doesn't seem to be a replacement man of peace on the stage recently, so I think he's safe. Personally, I hope it's not him.

There are a few characters who could replace Daryl and appeal to a similar audience demographic, one of them being Jesus. If anyone's going to replace "....", I think it will be him.

I don't expect Glenn to make it. It will be best if they stick to the comics, as I can't see any other character having as much impact (maybe Daryl). I'm just worried they're going to end it on a cliffhanger and "..." won't be revealed until October.

I don't either but, I would prefer it if they went in a different direction.

I'm a huge fan of the comics, and I'm hoping they keep it as close to the source material as possible for Negan's entrance. It will be heartbreaking, but it needs to happen. The writers have been playing it safe for too long with what characters they choose to kill, and a big character death is long overdue.

As for what people have been saying about potential cliffhangers where we wouldn't see who dies until season 7, I don't think they'll do it that way. The scene is such an iconic part of the comic and they've built up Negan for over half a season that it would be so anti climatic to end it that way. If they were to end it on that note it would basically be denying the audience the big payoff that has been building since the mid season finale. Admittedly, after hearing these rumors I was a little concerned, but after watching a clip with Greg Nicotero where he talks about adapting issue 100 to the show, I feel more confident that they'll do it justice.

I hope you're right, man. Either way, it'll be one of the best episodes yet and I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, me too. Usually I have the mentality of "Oh, damn man...the Walking Dead is gonna be on break for 5-6 months. Damn, this sucks...but hey, the finale should be cool."

But my mentality today is "Holy crap, we finally get to see Negan! I mean, yeah, Walking Dead goes on break for awhile after today, but damn, it's NEGAN!"

Welp, I'm gonna go turn into a goddamn pumpkin now because of that horses**t cliffhanger. I'm going to be very salty for awhile.

Abraham wouldn't have as much impact as Glenn or Daryl. The only thing that could make up for that cliffhanger is for it to be one of the original cast.
Overall, a solid episode, great suspense all the way through. They just f****d us on the last five seconds.

In the last scene, we see a pan around of Negan's group, and I noticed that a lot of them look like people Rick has lost over the past six years. I think this is saying something about the results of each leader's methods. Where Rick abandoned solo survivor's, and killed just about everyone else, Negan absorbed them. While Rick's group go out alone or in small groups, and are always getting killed because of it, Negan's people stick to large groups and survive. If the situation in that final scene was reversed, Rick's group would have killed every one of his Savior captives. Based on what we have seen so far, I think Negan has demonstrated better leadership ability than Rick.

I agree that the cliffhanger was badly handled, but apart from that it was a very strong episode.

Looking at the situation objectively, Negan let them off easy.

And you know the worst part about it? The fact that no matter how bitter I am, they can’t “fix” this. There’s not another “better” moment in the comic that they’ll get right by learning the lesson this time. This was it. One of the most climactic moments; arguably the most important moment in the story. And they pissed all over it. Gimple and his smug smiling “clever” ass on Talking Dead talking about how IF the fans get mad he’ll just have to “make it up to them.” But he can’t. This was the scene to get right. And he couldn’t even do that. It's as if he can't understand that there is a difference between a good cliffhanger and a sh***y one.

I saw an edited version on YouTube, where the scene with Lucille pointing at Glenn was placed before the POV shot. That's canon in my mind now, took some of the sting away.

I would prefer they stick to straight storytelling and not play obvious games. They apparently learned nothing from fan response to the fake Glenn death earlier in the season. They also have stretched realism/credibility past breaking point on the way to the finale.

As one reviewer put it well, the show creators are guilty of the same overconfidence as Rick.

As far as who got killed... In the past, the soon-to-be-departed usually got increased screen time and final character development. This time around more then one character fits that bill, maybe purposely. I see that set up with Glenn, Eugene, Abraham and possibly Daryl.

At this point my guess is Abraham.
