I'm as eager as anyone else to see a new Star Trek series, I just wonder how much more exploration they can do before people get tired of it. DS9 is my 2nd favorite because they moved away from that formula. I think there's a lot of story opportunities for other federation missions though, like managing disasters or crises. TNG often mentions how other federation ships will follow up on a situation when the enterprise leaves. And what about the less than stellar citizens who don't qualify for the academy, wouldn't it be interesting to see how they wind up?

I'd love to read your show ideas if you have any. Its been more than 10 years since we've had a star trek series.

Star Trek explores the human condition a lot, but the narrative is mostly the same, it involves a strong leader and a talented/willing crew. I wonder if they'd ever deviate from that formula and explore parts of ourselves that are less than prime-time ready. There have to be less glamorous jobs in the Star-Trek universe too, such as salvage crew. DS9 deviates from the formula the most with Quark and his family, not to mention Maj Kiera, and the Kardassian taylor with a sketchy past.

I would so like to see a Star Trek series in which only the Red Shirts and shipboard lower crew or families are seen, and the big guys on the bridge are never once seen, only their voices are heard, and they seem morally ambiguous and maybe even scary.

Exactly, in every backdrop, our focus is on the top brass. Not everyone rises to the top, but they still have a story to tell and a context to tell it in. They could explore more relatable themes like trying to maintain professionalism in the face of condescension or indifference. Or how to reconcile your identity/self worth with a hierarchical system.

Yeah...I, myself, and I am unanimous in this, wish they would dirty up the Star Trek universe up a bit. It's kinda boring when everybody is just so damned unflawed.

I mean, at least Kirk was a slut.....

Maybe the under crewmembers and such could help the alien civilizations encountered, even when the bridge officers violate the Prime Directive and go mess around on the planets.
