Chris Pine is Capt. Kirk
Zachary Quinto is Mr. Spock
Eric Bana is the villian of the movie with Masi Oka as Sulu

JJ Abrams is directing the movie with the guys who wrote "Transformers" writing the script.

First of all, JJ Abrams is sadly the most overrated producer in Hollywood and
"Mission Impossible 3" was a terrible movie.
"Lost" is losing viewership and may get cancelled by the end of the TV season, but this is just from opinion.

What do all the Trekies here on Wrong Planet think of this casting?

They should simply re-air the original episodes, with a few updated effects. Roddenberry's work is solid, and there is no real reason to pee all over it with something crummy like this possible re-do. They did enough damage with the "Enterprise" series. While I was initially hopeful about that one, the moment the theme song started I turned away in disgust and shame. ROD STEWART??! !! I'd sooner spend an evening Wookie-fisting than endure that dreck again. Better to leave well enough alone this time. If they are going to bring anything back, I'd love to see some new Tales from the Darkside.
That was a great show. Sorry about the rant, it's just something I really take personally. Trek is one of my "Things."

They've got to do something interesting with the franchise, and JJ Abrams is the man to do it. MI:3 was thoroughly enjoyable and Alias was a very cool piece of frippery.

It will, I predict, be much, much better than the PC mush that plagued the end of Voyager (Enterprise was pretty cool though).

I think Zachary Quinto is a good choice for Spock, but I don't care about the rest. But honestly, Kirk & Co? Couldn't they think of something new? I guess I'll watch it anyway, just because it's Star Trek.
