Has anyone ever seen this movie?


Do you like it? How do you feel about them protraying (sp) autism in this movie?

I have seen this movie only once and am watching it again now but won't be seeing the whole thing again because I have to head to work soon.

It's been many years since I saw it, but I really enjoyed it. I should watch it again.

No, but I wanted to when I first heard about it years ago (pre-dx, by the way).

What did you like/dislike about it?

I haven't seen it in years, but I have it in my vast DVD collection.

Milly befriends the boy and I think she falls in love with him. He learns to talk and he learns to catch a ball. He didn't seem to have any sensory issues but he was obsessed with flying. I think it had to do wiht his parents death so it triggered his obsesson. I don't quite remember. He didn't seem the classic type. He was mute and in his own world, didn't interact with people, was always by himself, obsessed with flying, couldn't catch a ball. He didn't yell or scream or have violent outbursts or stim unless you want to count him holding out his arms pretending he is flying.


But I thought the movie was good.

I saw the movie when I was a kid and I really liked it, I felt identified with him. I even wanted to be his friend, as I didn't have any at the time, and most of kids at school either bullied me or ignored me.

I liked it, especially the part where the boy played by Fred Savage sprayed pee in the face of a bully. Served the bully right!
