Last, but definitely not least, we come to Bond films that are more or less stand-alone. Daniel Craig (to date. Films still in production don't count) and George Lazenby have only made one Bond films each, while Timothy Dalton has only made two. Yet interestingly enough, these three Bonds are often hailed as being closer to Ian Fleming's original conception of Bond, and their movies are critically acclaimed.

So, without further ado, in order of release....

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (George Lazenby)

The Living Daylights (Timothy Dalton)

Licence to Kill (Timothy Dalton)

Casino Royale (Daniel Craig)

As usual, I will be posting trivia about the films, and the novels and short stories from which they derived their source material.

Well, I was going to vote for Casino Royale, so I'll vote on Licence to Kill for you.

They're obviously closer to the books, but what if you prefer the fantasy Bonds.

Books aren't always the best - did you ever read how Jaws the book ends...

Picky, picky.

OHMSS is often considered the closest adaptation of an Ian Fleming novel. It is also the only Bond film to feature George Lazenby, an Australian actor, as Bond. It is also noted for the periodic use of a Moog synthesiser in the soundtrack. One interesting fact comes when Bond is shown a possible family crest, with the motto "The world is not enough", a motto that is alluded to in the title, and briefly the dialogue, of the movie The World is Not Enough. It also involves the only time Bond gets married, to Tracy. He is promptly bereaved by an avenging Blofeld.

I really liked Timothy Dalton in "Scarlett" playing Rhett Butler. But as Bond he's sucky. I did enjoy 006, however. Sean Bean was in "Scarlett" as well. Coincidence? I can't remember which one he was in. Probably a Pierce.

Daniel Craig, all the way.

Hmm. For me I would rank Casino Royale first, then Licence to Kill second.

He is my personal favourite, but once I see the next Bond film, it might change in favour of Daniel Craig. I want to see Craig as a more mature Bond.

I loved the latest bond. A welcome return to the days when bond was a butt kicker rather than a gadget wielder. Though I am a fan of the fantasy bonds as well. Not enough but kicking for a lot of my liking. Daniel Craig just oozed that sense that... It don't matter, I'm gonna kick your butt! Especially loved the closing credits in that pin strip suit... he just looked awesomeness personified.

Truly a man women would want, and men would want to be like.

Voted for Licence to Kill. It's the only Bond film I've ever really liked.

Unfortunately, the two worst Bonds for me are both called the same thing "Casino Royale".

I loved the gadgets.

If I wanted to see an action/badass film that took itself seriously, I'd go and watch the Jason Bourne films. In that context it's better than Bond ever will be.

If only Bond would stay in it's niche, nothing would touch it.
