I knew him best in SeaQuest, actually. Used to love that when I was young....

My thoughts are with those closest to him. Jaws was a great film.

Oh no! Now Richard Dryfus is the last star of that movie left.

A pity. I only remember him from Jaws and The Punisher, and I've been meaning to see him in the Seven Ups, which I heard that he gave a really bad @$$ performance in that movie.

RIP Scheider.

I hadn't heard this news-I liked Roy Scheider. Gosh.
He just recently (within past 6 months) played a terminally ill serial-killer on episode of Law & Order (Criminal Intent) with Goren finding out his mother had been close with this criminal during Goren's childhood.
I watched Sea Quest for awhile, back in the 90's. Recall him being in "54 Pick Up" (think that's what it was called), and enjoyed him muchly in "2010".

When I first saw title of thread I thought it might refer to Richard Kiel "Jaws" from Bond, since he seems likely to have medical problems. I like that actor, too-though prefer when he plays against type (instead of being scary he's nice).

Were there any stars other than Scheider and Dreyfuss?

Yes,

Robert Shaw as Quint - a pretty big star in his day

Lorraine Gary (the wife) - did a lot of things pre-Jaws and a few things post.

I always confused it with .38 Special and Level 42 (two rock groups from the 80s).

Yeah, 'cause I forgot what the number in movie title ("52") meant-was thinking it was a year, but now it occurs to me that's that "game" where someone throws playing cards all over floor & voila, it's time to pick up the 52 cards. Been long time since I saw the film, just remember it was "noir-ish" storyline.
