Anyone else a fan?? The X-Files2 (title not known yet, in true Chris Carter fashion) is supposed to hit theaters July 25th 2008. We've been receiving many pieces of info through the fanclub emails. They've already shown a small trailer at the San Fransisco comic con last month & a longer trailer end of last month at a hollywood event. Wish I had been at both! Fox has been pulling bootlegs of the trailers off youtube (& others) left & right. I simply can't wait!

Really? I hadn't heard, and yes, I Loved the X-files. (Have all nine seasons)
Is the movie going to have Mulder and Scully, or Scully and Dagget. (I perfer Mulder of course)
Do you know what the plotline is yet?

Apparently, this one will not follow the alien conspiracy storyline. The movie is a supernatural thriller in the tradition of many of the show's standalone episodes. Doesn't sound too exciting, but since I'm a big X-Files fan, I'll reserve my judgement.

Who were your favourite supporting characters on The X-Files, by the way? I liked Alex Krycek, Gibson Praise, the Well-Manicured Man and the Lone Gunmen.

The Lone Gunmen without question. Too bad their spin-off didnt make it. It wasn't the X-Files but I'll take what I can get. Sure miss the whole series. Oooooooo.... idea for a new thread. (its proably been done but if it has I missed it.)

They're actually calling it "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" (That's a nice little reference in the title there to the poster in Mulder's office) and Chris Carter and David Duchovny proclaim its supposed to "stand alone from the mythology of the show" and that someone unfamiliar with the show could watch it. Of course Carter made this same claim about "Fight the Future". Also, it's been confirmed that it will take place six years after the series (because I would've been really pissed if it was flashback story. I really, really would).

i cant wait for this movie, although i didnt like the x-files series after season 5 and the movie, everything else leading up to that was some of the finest television ever produced, in my eyes. I hope it has a more gritty feel like the earlier seasons did, the ones after that kind of lost their edge and it didnt have that same noir kind of feel that helped make the show so great.

where have you been? It's been filming for a few years, and David Duchovny and Chris Carter confirmed it right out of the can.

Also, Annabeth Gish and Robert Patrick will not be in it AFIAK, ditto Mitch Pilleggi (and if so for Pilleggi, it'll be a small part).

The actual filming was only a matter of weeks from what I've heard. And it was shrouded in secrecy, although at one point there was a picture of Duchovny and Anderson kissing on the set, which was leaked to the press.

I had the opportunity of joining the film union (891) a few years ago, but then decided that I didn't have time. I'm still kicking myself for that. I've met a lot of people who worked on the original series, including a guy who did the lighting effects for "the UFO" (he can't remember which one).

Dang did I say that? I meant it's been confirmed for a few months/years/whatever. What I meant to point out was that the knowledge of the second film was known for a while before the actual filming. I'd chalk up the quote above to a brain fart.
