How the hell do these people keep making movies? They mange to produce some of the most powerfully unfunny parody movies of all time, and just when you think their movie is not only the most unfunny movie ever made, but the most unfunny movie that could possibly be made, they outdo themselves with the next installment. Seriously, do people actually watch these powerfully unfunny pieces of s**t? All they do is reproduce recent good movies with really bad acting and effects, and expect everyone to think it's really funny. It is truly embarrassing. I lose IQ points every time I see one of their commercials, that means that they are personally responsible for the fact that I am not currently going to an ivy league school. If I had not been dumbed down by seeing all their commercials over the past 10 years or so, I would considerably more intelligent than I am now.

It's because the general population of the world is stupid. They're not MR, just stupid. And this kind of stupidity in these movies appeals to their stupid sense of humor.

Speaking as someone who saw the unrated version of Epic Movie and hated every frame of it, I just have one thing to say: Seltzerberg should quit while they're ahead. Leave the crappy spoof genre to David Zucker.
But that's not what I'm here to talk about.
There's a website where you can predict a minimum of five of the jokes in Disaster Movie. Whoever gets the most right wins a brand new DVD copy of Airplane!, while one random loser "wins" a used DVD copy of the unrated Meet the Spartans. I entered it last month, and see what you make of these suckers (slightly rewritten from the original post):
1. Po (from Kung Fu Panda) and Iorek Byrnison (from The Golden Compass) engage in a kung fu fight to the death, ending with Iorek knocking Po's mouth clean off. Of course, since we're appealing to the kids here, there's also a good deal of expelling bodily fluids on each other.
2. American Gangster will be spoofed; again, appealing to the kids, this scene will have rap music, breakdancing, and a Denzel Washington lookalike saying "Say hello to my little friend!"
3. The Cloverfield monster and the Narissa dragon from Enchanted argue over who gets to destroy the city.
4. A VERY tasteless joke concerning Heath Ledger's death.
5. The ending will go like this: Anton Chigurh (from No Country for Old Men), aided by Juno, shotguns everyone for appearing in this film (as opposed to appearing in an indie film, and we know how much they have suffered this summer). Then he shoots Juno in the stomach, turns to the camera, and says in his best Bugs Bunny impression, "Ain't I a stinker?"
6. Seltzerberg beats the crap out of Dragonfly, from Superhero Movie, all the while whining about how they didn't get to make that film, especially since they have practically every superhero in this film.
All I can say is, the next spoof Seltzerberg makes, The Spirit and Watchmen better watch their backs...

"At this point I just feel like a f*****g bully. Disaster Movie is like the mentally challenged kid climbing out of the short bus with a head brace and two inches of snot caked into a mustache above his malformed mouth. No one really expects anything of him. He’s just there and its best to ignore him and let him go to his life skills class and get a gold star for being able to hold it until he gets to the bathroom. But here I am, waiting for him to step off the bus to I can beat the s**t out of the little moron. And you’re all here to watch."

I didn't think it was possible after Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans, but these new "spoof" movies have actually gotten dumber. All they've become now are random scenes making fun of current popular movies with no structure to them at all. Old classic spoof movies at least had some consistency and told a comedic story. These are not only totally random, but painfully unfunny. But there is some good news; Disaster Movie totally tanked at the box office. Perhaps these movies are finally losing their appeal to the people who made them successful in the first place.
Wonderfully said. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's passionate about this. These movies are absolutely revolting.

Someone MUST exile Seltzerberg out of Hollyweird
before their next dumb spoof movie reaches theaters.
Can you imagine the following?
Bond Movie
Indie Movie
Religious Movie
Spy Movie
Airplane Movie
I'd better stop before someone yells at me.
Leave the spoof movies to Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker.
But hey, at least David Zucker is at work on Scary Movie 5.

There's no subtlety about the "Movie" Movies. They lift scenes and characters right out of the original films. Good parody movies don't do that - they take an analytical look at the object of parody and put a spin on it.
Mel Brooks' parodies were great, because they imitated the style - without the gags, they'd be completely different movies from the originals.
And I remember while watching the commentary for an episode of Futurama, Billy West was talking about doing celebrity imitations, saying that it's funnier to take one detail of the source and greatly exaggerate it than to try to immitate it exactly.
