They were both profitable, but I never worked on either project.

Was there any point in quoting the first post when you are the first person to reply? I hate it when people quote the entire post like that, unless it goes on for pages and pages

I would prefer Star Trek

I prefer Star Trek.

I've always preferred science fiction to space opera. However, Star Wars is good space opera.

The war between Star Trek fans and Star Wars fans is ultimately futile, as the best science-fiction ever, Doctor Who, had been made well before either.

Yes, in case someone wants to quote my reply in context with the original statement. I'm just saving them some work; it's called consideration. Try it sometime.

Doctor Who? an alien who visits earth traveling through time and space in a TARDIS, is not realistic, how can I take it knowing that something like that is impossible. :P

Star Trek on the other hand, is more realistic ;)

Why, are you the new moderator?

Trek. More films, more television shows. Seems like there's more of everything.

Personally,

1. Dr Who
2. Star Wars
3. Firefly
4. Red Dwarf
.
.
.
.
8-ish... Star Trek.

Sorry, but although Trek is possibly more realistic, it's not a show where a lot happens most of the time. If the vote was about realism then I'd go for Children of Men, or Gattaca.

See for me the great thing about Star Trek isn't the realism. It's the ensemble casts where everyone is a part of a much grander thing. Everyone has a history and a story and something to help you identify with who they are. Firefly could have been like that if it wasn't so short lived. We've gotten to get to know the Doctor 10 times now. And while Star Wars was awesome I found most everyone's motivation to be paper thin and a few of the "creative" additions just made it worse. *caugh*JarJar*caugh*

I'd agree that the ensemble casts are a good thing for Star Trek but it's sad that everything has to be discussed in a committee - just like the real world.

We've gotten ten big clues on the Doctor, but we've only gotten to know one person... even then, we're not much wiser as to who or what he really is.

Then there's the Doctor Who Ensembles... The Brigadier, The Master, The Timelords, Davros, Possibly the Rani...

and a few companions too... Benton, Yates, Ian and Barbara, Jamie, Sarah, Tegan, Ace, Romana, Leela, Rose, Donna ... even... gulp... Adric.

They all had fairly plausible motivations - even if they didn't really have much movement in terms of story. Still, you can't tell me that Chekov went anywhere really....
