Wall-E not a Johnny 5 rip off

Wall-E was a clean-up robot made to clear trash off the post-apocalyptical Earth.

Johnny 5 was made to be a war machine with lazers in the modern day.

Planet Earth alone is not really a "similar environment", and they certainly do not perform similar functions.

There are really 3 things that make Wall-E look like a direct rip-off of Johnny 5. One is the triangular, rotating tread "feet". There's really no reason both need have this design.

The other is the lack of facial features besides eyes. Neither has a nose, ears, or mouth, despite their abilities to both hear and talk.

The last is the hands. Both feature 2 "fingers" opposed with a "thumb". As a trash collector this is very inefficient for Wall-E to have, as all he really needs is a large scoop. Why does he even have arms?

Well, while there may be limited similarities between the Wall-E and Johnny 5 characters, there are more similar plot points within the films Idiocracy (2006) and Wall-E (2008).

I liked both movies. I made a model (3d) of number 5, I just don't know enough to rig it for
programs... Thinking about doing Wall-e (it's already been done, tho).

Apparently some of the insperation of Wall-E was the Pixar lamp.

I've seen Short Circuit years ago, this summer I've seen WALL-E, on that day, I've seen Short Circuit again.

My brother told me about when he went to WALL-E, he said you need to get the character by watching Short Circuit. My mum mistakes WALL-E as Johnny 5.

So what if Wall-E looks similar to Johnny 5? They're both unforgettable characters and you can't help but feel for these machines. Who gives a stuff if they have the same design?

R.O.B., or Robotic Operating Buddy was part of a sought of add on to the NES (Nintedo Entertainment System), It has recently made a comeback in a recent game Super Smash Bros, so he has also become a face that newer gamers can recognise.
