Hi, I'm a 28 year old male from New England.
I went to a boarding school for high school, so was not exposed to my parents sufficiently for them to send me somewhere to be evaluated any time after the DSM-IV was published, and they had avoided a diagnosis when I was younger. Therefore, shortly after I turned 18, I made the decision to see somebody about why I was the way I was. I was diagnosed with AS in 2001 and spent the next several years learning additional coping mechanisms to enter the labor force. I am actually employed full time and have been for more than 5 years. Since the field I am in is also my primary special interest, I'm very fortunate.
I stumbled across this site as over the last several months, my compensatory habits started breaking down and people started noticing me acting more, "odd," than usual, and I could no longer pass as a quirky NT to those people who I have more than casual contact with. So I'm here to find the answers that I don't have, and hopefully my own experiences can help somebody else find their own answers.
