I finally found an autism spectrum forum with a sense of humor! I've been up all night reading posts...truth be told I'm working third shift and so would've been up all night anyway but that all of you lured me away from Something Awful for the night is, well, something.
I'm the mother of a two year old boy who has autism and we both are big goofballs. He's obsessed with trains, I'm obsessed with writing and cult movies. As for my own position on the spectrum, like many posters here I suspect Asperger's in myself but can't get diagnosed with anything other than "caring too much about what others think" or some crap no matter what doc I see. They throw some antidepressants at me and tell me to calm down, never mind Oh well, I've learned to overcome the social problems on my own (still have mondo problems in the workplace what with my extreme anxiety but damn can I socialize) but the really important thing is that my son is diagnosed, stamped and sent down the correct chute and is getting all the help he needs. Free help courtesy of the state, even!
So anyway, a big hello and I look forward to babbling on for many nights to come.
