I live in south-west Washington state, and hope to be able to make a move to either Portland or Seattle before the year is out. Any other aspies in the area? I've never actually met another one and I think it might be my only hope for making actual connections.

Well, idk yet...kinda depends how long it takes me to get some money together. Which is tough...trying to find work, I just can't cut it in fast food/service. I may try to get work as tutor through sylvan since I have experience doing that and actually get something out of it. Not sure if that'd give me enough hours to be able to move though. Ideally about October, shortly before the holidays.

the cost of living in seattle is very high, the average apartment rent is $1500 per month. even public school teachers and RNs struggle to make ends meet there.

If I'm going to be homeless then I'd go to Hawaii. Possibly best place in the world for that. And yeah, I know the cost of living is higher...probably gonna need to split an apartment with people which will be interesting. I just can't take small town life. I'd rather be barely able to make ends meet in a place where life is actually worth living than be stuck in some mill town with no future.

There are quite a few of us in the Seattle area, I help run the local meetup group, and we're up to over 500 members (not that you'll ever see anything like that many people at once). We've got a few sub-chapters around the state, take a look and see if any of the meetings are convenient for you, if you're looking to meet other Aspies in person:
