Name: Rivkah

Age: 48

Location: Canada

Hobbies and Interests: Randomly choosing two: Reading books (hobby) and Star Trek (interest).

When were you diagnosed? Waiting for the official word... I suspect AuDHD.

Favorite music: I'm all over the map with this one, but I do like Skillet, ABBA, and Lizzy Hoyt.

Books: Yes, let's have more of those than we have shelves. And then buy more shelves. And then rescue more library discards until we have too many for the shelves again! Um, is it obvious that I'm a reader and collector of books? LOL I like to read children's books (up to about middle grade, I think) and Jane Austen, non-fiction, Christian romance... Cool book covers and interesting titles will have me trying new genres, too.

TV shows/Movies: I spend too much time with the TV on in the evenings... And in addition to streaming, I collect! (Uh oh, pattern here.) I try to watch Star Trek at least once per week, enjoy British and Australian shows, like travel documentaries and some history too.

Instrument: I learned clarinet in junior high and some piano before that. Oh, recorder when I was really little! I'm thinking of getting a tin whistle sometime too.

Do you like sports? I like to watch some of them (hockey, equestrian, figure skating, and practically anything during the Olympics). I'm not coordinated enough to play. I do hike, though.

Family: 3 sisters, no brothers. 3 sons, no daughters. (Interesting reversal there.)

Clothing: Could we please just have soft, lightweight fabrics, please?

How did you find this website? WP members talking it up as a great place!

Job: Nothing paid at the moment. I'm a caregiver and teacher, but I'm also trained as a library technician.

Plans for the future? Read, write, travel if there's enough money for it...

Instrument: I'm not musically talented

Family: My immediate family is parents, siblings and a brother in law

What is your first name? Ed

Age: 66

Location: Wisconsin, USA

Hobbies and Interests: Playing music, watercolor painting, hiking, bicycling (not a Cyclist with a capital “C"), history, fountain pens.

Why are you here? Questioning whether or not I have Autism in addition to, or instead of ADHD, as has been suggested by some people whose opinions I value.

When were you diagnosed?: 2005 ADHD

Favorite subjects: N/A

Year/Grade: N/A

Favorite music: Many different types, from Prog to folk to tradtional music of Eastern Europe, and lots more. Currently on heavy rotation: Peter Hammill/Van der Graaf Generator and Trio Mandili.

Books: I read a lot. Mostly fiction, some non-fiction. Terry Pratchett is a favorite.

TV shows/Movies: I don’t watch much TV or movies these days. I find it difficult to find things I like. I enjoyed Detectorists, Ted Lasso, some others. Generally something intelligent and not mean, violent, or depressing. Funny is good but not necessary.

Instrument: Electric bass guitar, Bulgarian tamboura, guitar, ukulele.

Do you like sports? Mostly indifferent. I really dislike professional sports.

Family: Parents deceased. Three siblings. Spouse. Two living daughters. One daughter deceased.

Clothing: Loose, casual. No synthetics. Nothing tight around my throat (no crew necks!)

How did you find this website? It was mentioned in “Unmasking Autism” by Devon Price.

Job: Receptionist. Formerly retail, cabinet maker, electric guitar builder, stringed instrument repair.

Plans for the future? I’d like to retire soon. Then spend time painting, playing music, enjoying nature, etc. I will probably still need to work part time to supplement Social Security and my meager savings, hopefully at something that doesn’t suck all the life out of me like my current job.

Any comments? At some point, I would like to post about how and why I’ve come to this site, wondering if there are other people with similar experiences. Based on what I’ve seen from other people, it’s probably too lengthy for this thread. I’ve perused the forums a bit, but haven’t come across anyone yet. Not sure which thread would be appropriate. Possibly Members Only? It’s nothing weird or objectionable, just a lot of ground to cover.
