Why are we here?
Because we're here...but not this time!

I noticed my poll got some responses from fans
of Rush, so my Christmas gift to this forum
is a thread on anything to do with Rush.
Genny Lee, Neil Peart, anyone else in Rush,
their songs, their approach to music, you name it,
it's welcome!

YES! I'm a major Rush fan myself! I recently saw them play at the Nissan Pavllian just outside of DC. I have heard them called the "Thinking Man's rock" There were people there of all ages, young and old. I fit right in with the appearance of the rest of the crowd with my long hair and sort of "rocker" look I typically have. I felt right at home with the Rush crowd there, of which many seemed sort of aspie-ish too!

I have all their material up to Presto on LP, and everything on CD. Rush is one of my most frequently played artists in my music collection. I got into them when I was in my freshman year in High school when one of my friends played some of their tracks for me....about the time Roll the Bones came out...I was hooked. I feel it's an honor to be among you all... to appreciate this band is an understatement, their words are profound, the music is so complex and mesmorizing, just an incredible trio! I salute you all!! !!

In September, we took our 12 year old son to his first concert--RUSH! at Blossom Music Center....Amid the thousands,there were hundreds of kids his age and under, and I was thrilled that fathers shared their devotion of Rush with their children... He wears alot of my Rush t-shirts to school, and has grown up with Rush since day one, as with all of our children.....I have bumper stickers of them on our vehicle, and it is really one of my obsessions..

Have you heard the relationship between 2112 and Willy Wonka? This is absolutely amazing!! ! Start the music right when Willy Wonka sticks his cane into the sidewalk, when greeting the children at his factory! It is all uncanny and timed to perfection!~

I ran in the Race for the Cure 5K this past spring. I've always run several miles a week to keep in shape, but this is the first time I've run competitively. Even though the song is only about 6 minutes long, the entire time I was running the race, which took me about 24 minutes, I had the song "Marathon" playing in my head.

One of my favorite bands for many years. Drums were my first instrument, and Neil Peart plays them better than anyone I've ever heard. A few bassists influenced me to lean more toward the bass than the guitar and Geddy Lee tops that list. And Alex Lifeson is one of the most underrated guitarists I can think of.

And also, may I add, three of the most humbled artists... An incredible trio!

I agree. I can't think of any rock stars that are more un-rock star like than Rush.

Used to put my "2112" album on to fall asleep to EVERY night. Loved the song where he finds the acoustic guitar behind the waterfall. One of my MOST favorite songs of all time!! ! The whole story of "Father Brown" was it? made me feel that being an individualist had both its own rewards and dangers. That whole side of the album sustained me thru a extreamly painful time in my life and the horrors of High School.
I remember this guy who played guitar who was trying to impress me asked if there was anything I wanted him to play and I told him that, and he was able to pick out the beginning of it. He told me that while it sounds simple, it's quite difficult because of that certain "pinging" sound of the notes. It's hard to do he said. Of course he may have just been telling me that, I don't know.

There should be more female admirers of Rush........

Hey, I just noticed, where in Ohio? I grew up in Florence KY 10 miles south of Cincinnati. My first concert was in Dayton and then a lot of concerts at "Legend Valley" I think it was called, by Columbus maybe? It was all "many, many moons ago." Heard they tore down Riverfrount Col. Was at "The Who" concert there, you know the one I mean if your old enough.
