This is definitely a higher level of Japanese than mine. as far as I can understand it, I'd guess that means "Good evening, Vandire! How do you do. I really like Japanese. But, my teacher went back to japan, and now (I have no idea what this part means)". Then something about anime, and liking video games?

Am I close at all?

Very close! Continuing from where you left it off, "But because my teacher plans to go to Japan, now I have to study it myself. I haven't ever watched anime but I like Japanese culture and video games." (at least I think I said culture lol but I'm certain about the rest of it)

I'm finding it very difficult to restrain myself from recommending a few (dozen) series'.

Two reasons...

1- Lack of anime satelitte channels.
2- I can somehow get it (erm... Bittorrent) but I don't know what series I should watch.

Theres a lot of different styles in anime, and more than anything its a matter of taste. However, the series that I'd recommend most highly (that's still legal to download) would be Death Note- A battle of minds between a boy who has the ability to kill someone by imagining their face and writing their name in a special notebook, and an elite detective with near unlimited resources.

I like anime too, Initial D is my favorite. i like japanese too, but i can`t much, but i can a few words like: Kanpai and Hachiroku.. i only pick up some words, but i would love to learn and when i`m old enough and have enough money i will take classes!

I hope to talk to you more and maybe learn a bit Japanese from you!

Airbrush - If you wanted to learn a bit of japanese, I could give you a few basic phrases (I.e. to the lines of "Hajimemashite - How do you do? , Nanika tabitai desu - I want to eat something), but you would be a lot better off with a regular practice, rather than anything I could help you with. As far as I can tell Hachiroku means 86 or 68 (I'm not really conifdent in numbers above hachi), so that seems a very, very strange word to just happen to know. where did you pick that one up from?

Shadow Star Narutaru is your go if you want something a little more mature and rough than standard kiddy cartoons. Seriously. It's my own personal favorite, and the manga series has even more plot and character development, so if you really want the whole deal you should pick up the books and DVDs.

Dark Horse was translating the manga and sending it over to the US, but they stopped with volume 7 for a complicated and stupid reason

A warning, though: it's not for the weak of stomach, especially towards the end of the anime and what's there of the manga, so if you get sick thinking about anything even remotely disturbing, turn back.

Hamtaro is the best anime we ever got here in Australia.

I have also studied nihongo for 2 years and I think I know why I like this language above all others I have learned: it has a kind of mathematical way of building up sentenses. The words remain the same but their possition in a sentence changes to alternarte the meaning, or a word is added to change the statement into a question, leaving the whole sentence further unchanged. Des ne?!

That's one reason why I like it, I think. So many people seem to say it's one of the more difficult languages to learn, but to me it all seems so... logical. And an alphabet based on phonemes makes a lot more sense to me, too.

I have felt that about Japanese for a long time and I never shared it with anyone else. But now, being here in WP I knew that if I say it, it will make sense to others like myself!
