Double Retired what's up Doc? Remember that movie? Only people our age would. When I got my diagnosis officially it was really no news as I suspected as much years ago. I started university with a year of psychology as most do before they find a niche & Asperger's was still the name before it became Autism Spectrum or High-Functioning Autism. Of course the APA does not set the standard everywhere even though they think they do

To the left of every post is an area with information about whoever posted it. The first line is their "username". Further down there is a count of how many posts the individual has made since joining WP. That "Emu Egg", "Butterfly", and so on thingy is just a colorful way of roughly grouping folk by how much they've posted. Everyone starts out as an "Emu Egg" and as they make more posts they progress through other categories--mostly flying critters. Eventually, after making enough posts, your status becomes "Veteran".

The user information on every post you ever made will be kept current. For instance, if you look at the very first post you ever made you'll see that it no longer identifies you as an "Emu Egg", it has been updated to reflect you have made more posts since then.

I remember there was a movie What's Up Doc?. I'm guessing that's the one you mean though IMDB says there are other things with that name. If I've ever seen it, though, it would've been long ago and on TV. That phrase makes my mind run more toward Bugs Bunny.

I do not know if anyone reading this will understand completely. But the written conversations I have had on this site are more than I have had with anyone other than my YouTube comments, all year! I just have problems talking to real people, so this is the first time I have engaged in a social-type setting with people my age with ASD.
Thank you for explaining the naming system, I have hopes of becoming a Crow soon then. I like Crows. They don't take any nonsense.
Last night Google crashed across Australia & I could not get online anywhere.

What's Up Doc? Had Barbra Streisand in it playing a female bugs bunny Femme Fatale, very funny. It was a 1970s big box office hit.

I notice many are awaiting assessment? What do you expect? How will it change things?

My ASD is mild. After we researched it, my bride and I thought it likely that I was "on the Spectrum". But that was the opinion of two untrained folk. The assessment made it official so I could comfortably say I was on the Spectrum rather than we thought I was.

Indeed ASD is a spectrum. I have High-Functioning Autism, once called & still in many places Asperger's. I have some of the smarts associated with this form of autism & some speech impairments. I can get my words twisted & talk very fast with difficulty getting clear speech pronunciation. I repeat words, sentences, & go off topic so far it may have been an Albatross flying over head. If I write a script I tend to stay on course. There are stims too, especially around rocking which comforts me. Noise & certain smells can set off a meltdown. I have no control, I just start to sweat & I react unless something happens. I use Noise-Cancelling earphones, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing, exercise, & escape! Nor will I tolerate unwarranted touching - I will yell at anyone who does so.
As I age, I am becoming more sensitive. My skin is always burning. I have to take pain relief continually. I think the world is a crazy place full of violence. Sometimes, I wish I never had autism & wonder what sort of life I would have had. But then I wish I was cancer free, was never abused as a child, had reasonable parents, sensible co-workers, better mental health care earlier, & so on. It never ends, so I really had no choice. Life is what it is. A mediocre existence in a mediocre universe that allows some really awful things to happen, like concentration camps, slavery, bigotry, & nuclear bombs. :(
