Welcome LonelyCat,

I'm keen on Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror and read a fair amount - particularly horror.

I'd be interested in reading whatever you have.

I've been something of a writer myself but not in recent years. I've never finished writing a novel because I've always gotten stressed about what to do with it when I finish it.

Nowadays, I think I'd just make it into an E-Book - which means that one day, If I ever get time to myself again (family takes up too much time) I might write again.

My goodness and your picture includes yourself with Rose Tyler of Doctor Who!! !! ! I am A MASSIVE DOCTOR WHO FAN! My husband too.

We should share our writing then. I think it would help us both to be inspired once more. I know of a local writing group here, but I have to stick with their schedules as to when the meetings are. And it isn't always easy to go to the meetings. But good to have more than one audience.

What other Sci Fi/Horror stories or movies or TV do you like?

Welcome. It's nice to see another writer. Currently I can't think of a genre that fits my writing. It's a bit of fantasy mixed with sci-fi, along with some realism, etc...

I've written and finished a quite a few novels in a series, but haven't sent them off yet. The process after seems daunting and stressful..

I make up a world of bug-like creatures and they live their own world, which is in a lot of ways like a human world, and then elements that are uniquely their own. A few characters seem to have "outside" abilities, especially my main character. There are various conflicts that erupt...

If you want to share your stories, you can pm me. I'm not much for horror, but well written sci-fi may be nice.

My writing includes fantasy as well. And my science fiction story I am working on is also good. I like to explore the classic theme of good versus evil. In fact that is such a broad theme that fits any genre. PM me if you'd like to maybe hear what my novels (the second one being a supernatural romance) are about.

I've been a fan of Dr Who since I was 4. (my first Doctor was Jon Pertwee).

TV
I like Torchwood (I guess that's obvious).
I was into Carnivale and Firefly - the US canceled both :(
Not been into anything else on TV that's recent, though I like the OLD Battlestar Galactica and Lost in Space etc, even the Original Treks. I've never watched NextGen since I need to start from story 1 and haven't gotten around to it.
I liked the Clone Wars cartoons - looking forward to the TV Series.

Movies
Movies are a special interest, so I could go on forever here - I'll try not to.
The usual Sci Fi staples; Star Wars, Aliens, Blade Runner, Back to the Future etc.
Horror; Hellraiser, Bram Stoker's Frankenstein, Butterfly Effect,
Fantasy; LOTR, Harry Potter etc..

Books
Stephen King, Graham Masterton, Brian Lumley, James Herbert.
I've also read all of the Doctor Who books prior to the recent Series - I have half of them but haven't had time to read them yet.
Obviously Tolkien, Harry Potter etc. various others.

What about you?

OK -- My interests are...

Music -- Depeche Mode is my favorite band. I love Synthpop anything really. And I love New Age music. My favorite New Age artist is Steve Roach. His work is amazing.

TV -- Doctor Who, all Star Treks, BSG (new and old), Quantum Leap, Red Dwarf, CSI, Stargate (both series), Torchwood, Forever Knight, Moonlight, Smallville, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell, Sherlock Holmes, Lovejoy, etc... I'm a TV NUT! I have never seen Carnivale, but would love to borrow the DVDs if anyone has them. The character of the preacher fascinates me.

Movies -- Phantasm (all of them), Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Back to the Future, Spiderman, Hulk (and the new one coming out), Batman, Superman, Fantastic Four, any other super hero movies really, science fiction, action and adventure, mystery, comedy, romance... I'll watch just about anything that interests me.

Books -- Books that jump out at me at the store. The ones with good covers, catchy titles, and if the summary of the book is good I will read it. So I don't have a particular favorite author. If I discover one book by a particular author, I will most likely read other works by the same. Science Fiction, Horror, Supernatural Romance. I love anything with werewolves and vampires, religious cults, aliens... I am fascinated so much by the corruption of religion, and how it can be used for evil instead of good. Or religion being twisted into something else. Or even learning about other religions or alternate beliefs. I am interested in reading about Jim Jones, Koresh, Hubbard, etc...

My favorite color is black. You can often see me in black. And if not black, red, gray, sometimes green or purple. But mostly black. My other favorite colors are red, green, purple.

My favorite gemstone is the black sapphire or black opal. Or even black onyx.

I love clothing at Hot Topic. I'm a goth, but can't wear that stuff very often anymore. They wouldn't like it if I wore that stuff at work. But if this were my world, my rules, everyone would be wearing black and goth.
