After getting yelled at for breaking a glass...."I did not do it on purpose, how can you punish someone for an accident. Make me pay for it and clean it up but what is the point of yelling at me for something that I did not do intentionally."
After my mother told me to stop crying because she was not going to be manipulated by me..."I cry because I am hurting, if it makes you feel like you need to act differently that is not my fault because effect does not equal intention."

probably deserves its own topic if it hasn't got one alreadyIt is something that needs to be addressed. The current therapy is based on changing behavior (ABA therapy). It is recommended that it is used for 8 hours a day by a professional therapist and then also continuely by parents. I can't imagine what kind of a sensory/emotional hell that would have been for me. They may have gotten me to drool on que when seeing vegtable(that I really hate) and they might get me to eat them with out throwing upby using reinforcers or punishments..... but it's going to mess-up my mind to be forced to act/think I like something I don't...no? I think even some very loving parents who just want thier kids to stop screaming may be unintentionally doing harm...it's worth investigating how present adults have managed to survive with AS without ABA before you decide that is the only solution....it's just logic.
