Then, how 'bout I nominate you, Aylissa? There! You're the first one I'd pick.

I was thinking the same thing....

Some of us WERE the last ones picked for all the kickball games....
I agree Alyssa... this just doesn't promote an aire of belonging... somewhere

I wholeheartedly agree. Every time one of these kinds of threads comes along, the little girl in me who was always teased and bullied at school (and always the last picked for any kind of team whatsoever, unless it was academic) peeks in hoping to see her name...even though I'm quite new and even though I know that "I" don't really care about this kind of thing. I'm sure there are members here who appreciate my posts, and members who don't get much out of them. Just as there are members I look forward to reading, and others with whom I don't resonate as well. It's just a personal expression of what clicks with you, not an objective statement of someone's "worth."

But that little girl from long ago who tried so hard to fit in still peeks in, hoping..... :( Which makes me wonder how younger, more fragile Aspies here react when their names don't show up on these kinds of polls. Not good.

Hmmm... the topic of this thread has mutated into a completely different question. So I'll answer again. :D

Cyber-wise, I know:
1. everyone

IRL, I know:
1. NeantHumain
2. pyraxis (met her while she was traveling through St. Louis-- and quite nice she is, too :) )

I don't know anyone from WP in real life, but I've been on here long enough to know the general interests and the writing tone of members who actively post.

My kitty will neither gain satisfaction of being considered cooler than other kitties and humans, nor will he be disappointed if he is voted less cool. Which is why i voted for him.

I too don't think that this is a good topic for a thread on WP, since most of the people that come here have Asperger's. I say this because some aspies come here to be able to socialize in a world where people know their difficulties and to be able to relate to be accepted into some form of group. I think that some aspies that don't get picked as being one that's labled as cool will feel as if they are not cool, and won't feel welcome here, since they'd feel that the world here on WP is just like the social world outside of it (or the normal social world). I know you don't mean to offend people, and I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just saying that someone could get hurt by not getting picked, much like the kickball analogy. For the positive side, I'd have to say that many people here are pretty cool, and have many of my common interests, and most of them are nice to me. I've come to really like the people here, the environment, and the time that I've spent here already. WP has surely been a blessing in my life, because I don't get to meet aspies very often in real life, and here on WP they're all over the place.
