Why are you here? Because I have AS and wanted to talk to other people who do.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I am self-diagnosed.

Favorite subjects: Science, history, literature

Year/Grade: I graduated from college in 2011.

Favorite music: An ecclectic variety. I love classical voice like opera and choral music, I love 90's and early millenial rock, I love some latino dance music like reggaeton, and I like songs here and there. Honestly, I enjoy most music-- I hate techno and I don't like most rap.

Books: Far too many to list. I love fantasy, scifi, military history, historical fiction, general fiction, etc.

TV shows/Movies: Movies, too many to list. TV shows-- West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Firefly, Amazing Race, Heartland, and a few others. I rarely watch TV regularly, though-- I watch shows very sporadically, so I generally just rent DVDs or Netflix, I don't watch them on cable or anything.

Instrument: Voice. I enjoy singing-- I'd like to join a local choir again.

Job: I'm a stay-at-home mother. I used to work for a planetarium and also for an educational organization as a presenter in science outreach for children ages 4-17.

What is your first name?
You can call me Dan :)

Age: 19

Location: New York

Hobbies and Interests: anything outdoors I really like... hiking, biking, kayaking, sailing... driving around to different places (to see new stuff and just the actual driving I like, and doing drifts in the snow this time of year), reading stuff online, and just going and doing whatever with friends.

Why are you here? I had some curiosity about the ASD community... I've got a friend now and have had friends in the past on the spectrum and I think they're interesting people, and pretty cool people. I was diagnosed a few times but it's not looking like I'm on the spectrum so much anymore. Also I'm a psychology major looking to work in MH so just interest...

When were you diagnosed?: probably at about 3 or so.

Favorite subjects: Psychology (I always liked science, but I'm absolutely terrible at everything math related, still loved physics though)

Year/Grade: In College

Favorite music: I listen to pretty much everything except maybe country, but there's still exceptions there. 50 cent to Vaughan Williams to Daft Punk to Vampire Weekend to Tchaikovsky to Jay-Z... everything

Books: Anything about psychology

TV shows/Movies: I don't watch TV really, just watched Memento and loved that

Instrument: Voice and some piano

Do you like sports? Yes. Frisbee and Football I really like to play. I would've been a linebacker in high school because I like to tackle people, but I didn't really like the people on the team so I did cross country and track instead.

Clothing: I l ove to dress up nice and look good, and just generally I love shopping for clothes. My favorite thing to do is go to thriftshops and look through everything and find nice designer clothing and pay next to nothing for it.

How did you find this website?: oooooo........

Job: Well I'm a student but it looks like pretty soon I'll have a job working with kids with MH issues, pretty excited about that!

Plans for the future?: Get a job in psychology helping out people, find a pretty girl I'd like to live with, make money, maybe have kids of my own, and learn some things along the way

Any comments?

:)

I also have undiagnosed ADHD, OCD and I suffer from depression and social anxiety and general anxiety. I did some CBT this year but didn't really find it helpful. Age: 30

Location: Currently north east Ohio, but I'm planning on moving to north west Pennsylvania, by the end of this year.

Hobbies and Interests: Chess, martial arts, and poli-sci mostly.

Why are you here?: To read posts, and post my own thoughts. Plus to interact with others, especially those who share the spectrum.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Just this year. I was officially diagnosed by a nurse practicioner as having a pervasive developmental disorder.

Favorite subjects:Of the core school subjects, I'd probably say that history was my favorite. Not counting high school electives, in which I'd say that poli-sci, and psychology were my favorites.

Year/Grade: I'm not in high school anymore, since I graduated in '02.

Favorite music:I have a number of favorite genres of music, but probably my top favorites would be Celtic pop, and/or folk.

Instrument: The fipple flutes

Do you like sports?: Depends upon what one considers a sport to be. I like to participate in both chess, and martial arts point fighting. And sometimes I might tune into various athletic team competitions, if I particularly feel an affinity for a particular team, such as Livorno Amaranto soccer. But otherwise I don't much care about sports, and who wins.

Family:In my immediate family, of which I reside, I have a mother, father, sister, and an 11 year old paternal first cousin/foster brother.

Clothing:Whatever is available, I'm not to picky when it comes to fashion.

How did you find this website?: With a search engine.

Job:So far I mostly just scavenge for stuff, such as aluminium, and complete surveys. But I am a certified private investigator too. I just haven't done much with it yet..

Age: 16

Location: Wales, UK

Hobbies and Interests: Drawing, reading, cats, horses (most animals to be honest), finding out why people are different, thinking.

Why are you here? I have no diagnosis and was too scared to talk to anyone about it. I think I have Asperger's.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): See above

Favorite subjects: Art, unfortunately we don't have philosophy in my school.

Year/Grade: Year 11 (age 15-16)

Favorite music: We the Kings, and other stuff.

Books: Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy!, Percy Jackson.

Family: Mum and Dad, and the cats and chickens

Clothing: Jeans, t-shirt, hoodie, trainers... (never skirts or dresses)

How did you find this website? I was searching how to tell my parents I want to get tested for Aspergers. I put off getting an account for ages, though.

Plans for the future? This is a tough one. The future scares me, and I don't know what I want to do with my life.

Any comments? I think this sort of thing is a great idea! i hope everyone had a good 25th of December (even if you don't celebrate Christmas) and New Year. No matter what Happened in 2013, I think 2014 will be great for all. (sorry, too cheesy I know)

What is your first name? Not now. Maybe later.

Age: 28

Location: UK

Hobbies and Interests: Computers, science, electronics, philosophy, cognitive science, beer brewing, roleplaying, fiction universes, travelling and world cultures

Why are you here? I found out one month ago I probably have AS. Waiting for a diagnostic. I find the company here both pleasant and highly enlightening.

Favorite subjects: Science in general, CS in particular.

Year/Grade: Graduated a while ago. As a matter of fact I have a PhD, but I won't develop in public for privacy reasons.

Favorite music: A bit of many things... Mostly old-style noisy hard rock and metal (anything from ACDC, Led Zep, Iron Maiden, the Guns, etc. and many smaller more obscure things), old prog/psychedelic rock, some darkwave (Dead can Dance especially), and pagan folk / celtic / trad inspired music (Faun, Omnia, etc.). I also like jazz (although I don't really know anything about artists etc.) and can enjoy contemporary/experimental music.

Books: Colourful fantasy with interesting universes and characters (Jack Vance, Scott Lynch, Robin Hobb, GRR Martin) and plenty of sci-fi, more on the hard science or close future anticipation side.

TV shows/Movies: Not many. Loved Game of Thrones but that's because I love the books.

Instrument: Guitar. Sometimes.

Do you like sports? Not really. The only kind of sports I can really commit myself to practice regularly is martial arts. I have been trying quite a few in the last few years but never got really involved in one. I hate team sports and anything with a ball.

Family: My parents, two siblings. Communication is sometimes difficult with them, both because of my and their issues. (None of them have an ASD I think but that don't automatically make them great communicators.) And of course my lover, with whom I hope I can create a family.

Clothing: Jeans, always. T-shirts when I'm at home, shirts when I go out.

How did you find this website? I had already vaguely heard of it. I just found it again when googling for ASD forums.

Job: Withheld for privacy. Sorry.

Plans for the future? Getting a diagnosis. Trying to remove inadequate coping strategies and build better ones, and get help/specialized therapy. Use this to fight my chronic social anxiety and be successful in my professional and family life.

Any comments? Thanks to everyone here for being here
