Hello everyone.

I'll just start off saying that my mother had said I had autistic tendencies for years, but it wasn't until after I turned 28 (will be 29 this year) that I came across AS and the whole Autism Spectrum Disorders. So, I went in to get tested, as well as to look into a case of depression after a year of unemployment, and behold, answers. My family even determined that an uncle of mine had it too, though he was never officially diagnosed, but his mannerisms and whatnot fit. As far as social scenarios, yes, I am a near disaster. I can see facial expressions, but I have trouble figuring out what they mean to me, or what they're supposed to mean to me. My mother and I always knew I was stuck in my "own world" while growing up, but because I did so well in school, there was nothing that could be done at the time.

As for employment, well, I will be starting a part time job soon, but after living on my own for over 4 years and losing funds, I will have to move back in with my parents and save up again. Luckily, I never did much with the freedom I did have, so not much of a loss.

Yeah, been trying. As for the late in life bit, i view finding out "useful life information" after age 25 to be late since one could have used that help much sooner. Hell, i might have been diagnosed properly when i was in elementary school, but the place has a dumbass child psychologist (pardon the language) who literally told my parents, "I dont know what to tell you . . . good luck." But, i know that there wasnt any official documentation on AS until 1990 . . . still, it would have been nice to have the help. The fallacy of being older is that you tend to get set in your ways and thats the fear i have now . . . that, and most family i have die around the age of 60, so as far as i can tell, about half my life is likely gone. But, Im doing what i can, have a case manager, job coach, and still looking for my niche in life.
