I am new here, I have a lot of pets, and they include parrots.
I live in the SouthWest USA.

I am pretty sure that I have AS, My mom was talking to me the other day, and said that 1 of the reasons that I have really hard time with math, is because of AS. She gave me a article about, and told me to go and read it, and then she said that sounded like me, didn't it? I said yes, she said it was no big deal that I had it, but now that she knows that I do have it, she can read about it more, and try to help me!

When I was younger, about 7, or 8 I was tested for ADD, and that is what they thought I had, but I do not (maybe I have both), but my mom said I was tested for ADD and that's as far as they went, but it does not really effect me that much, I have a really hard time making friends, and was always made fun of in school (what kind of socks I was wearing, etc, and I was at a Christian school also (that is 1 of the reasons I am home schooled, and I LOVE it, hehe).

2 of the signs are that I have are:

Not making eye contact with anyone
and the other sign is focused on 1 or subjects/objects (birds, and parrots, and that is basically all I talk about, I will talk about other things, but I prefer to talk about those 2 subjects). Also people with AS really like music, and that would be me, LOL! I love Sanctus Real, Casting Crowns, Switchfoot, and Toby Mac, plus some others. Then the article said that people with AS, have average or above average intelligence, and are like mini experts (that would be me with birds).

Any info about AS would be greatly appreacited!

Hey Parrotnut. I'm glad you're here. Check out some of the articles and Books and show them to your mom. The book that opened my eyes to my AS was Temple Grandin's Thinking In Pictures. Before I read the book I thought my daughter's severe autism came out of the blue, a total surprise. Now I know my dad has it and a few cousins and one of my sons. The son with AS I homeschooled all the way to college.

Hi parrotnut. Welcome.

My girlfriend has two blue parakeets: Nate, who has a blue breast, and Honeybird, who has a white one.
