posted two message by mistake!
Sorry about that .... I am having an incredibly difficult time at the moment and the UK is absolutely a rubbish place to live when you have Aspergers but no learning difficulty!
If you have a learning difficulty, you get a nice paid for private School but when you have none, you get mainstream - like my Son now!
He does have three friends he plays with, this is good .... I had no friends as a child and I was determined for my kid to have friends .... although it has been a very strange world the past two years because since realising I am an Aspergers, I realise I have lived a lie for the past 42 years and have been something I am not .... what a waste!
So how do I learn to become me without everybody else thinking I am weird.
You can fool a lot of the people all of the time but you cannot fool yourself is my motto and now I am stuck.
don't worry about the double post - i'll try and find it and sort it out.
i too am in the UK, and i too discovered i have AS when i was 42. you haven't been living a lie - you're just now able to place yourself, as yourself, more accurately, although i do understand what you mean.
you are still the same person, just with more awareness of yourself, and that means you can now sort out the bits which feel like a lie and get rid of those which aren't useful to you. and you can also stop beating yourself up for getting things wrong - sound familiar?
welcome to WP, anyway, loopy.
