Hello!

I stumbled across this board a tad back, and thought I may step in to say hello and maybe pick at a few of your minds...

I haven´t been diagnosed with anything, and actually haven´t been to any kind of therapist or shrink for years...but, my nature has always sorta concerned me, sometimes more so than others...

ANYWAYS, here´s my question...what are the main differences between schizoid/schizotypal like personalities, and Aspergers or even High functioning Autism?!

I´ve actually only had one real psych evaluation, from a therapist, in which I took the MMPI and scored relatively normal, save for my scoring of mildly schizophrenic...he(my therapist) didn´t seem too concerned, and said it probably had more to do with my, as he called it, spacey nature. I actually had a lot to share about my issues, but the nature of the situation kind of required I keep my mouth shut and remain as seemingly sane as possible(Not to get TOO into the heavy s**t, I´m transgendered, and this was my gender therapist...I was trying to get cleared psychologically so I could begin taking hormones...anyways, that was a while back when I was younger and that aspect of my life is actually pretty tip-top...more or less :) ) Anywho, he didn´t stay on the subject for very long, and made simply a passing comment that it shouldn´t concern me...

But all this gets back to issues I´ve had since I was child, I´ve always been pretty...for lack of a better word, off...I mean, I´m not really going to give you a full list of tics and behaviors and issues, I haven´t the time and I won´t waste yours...let´s just say, as most family and friends would agree about me, that I´m just in my own little world...

Anyways, to get back to the meat of this, I am finding the more I explore this, the more I get back to both Autistic spectrum/Aspergers versus the schizoid spectrum...

I give VERY little weight or value to any kind of online test or quiz, I assume those are probably more for fun(fun being a relative term in this case) than actual diagnostic purposes, but I do consistently find myself ranking extremely high in both Schizo/Schizotypal as well as on AQ tests...but descriptions seem just a little to rigid for me to fully fit into to...

I mean, I am pretty socially awkard, pretty being an understatement, but at the same time, I can find myself being VERY sociable if the situation is right...I mean, even when I am very social and comfortable, my manner is different and my speech patterns can be hard to follow, but most people actually kinda dig it, and I usually can make friends pretty quickly...not that I´d ever really want to like go bowling with them or something, I´m not THAT sociable, but I can function on a simple social level quite well. However, catch me off guard and you´re lucky if you can understand anything that comes outta my mouth...

Ugh, I totally rambling...anyways, my question from before...if anyone has anything that might help, that´d be super...and if you´d like more info or rambling, just say so...I quite sure I´Il offer it regardless...

Thank you!
