Hi,
I'm new here. I just got an official diagnosis of AS yesterday. I'm wondering if I should get a 2nd opinion or just accept it.
I'm 37, I work as a clinical research specialist. My 17 year old brother has Asperger's, so it is in the family.
I have social anxiety. I really only have 1 friend that I'm close to. I struggle in social situations. I try everything possible to avoid them. I do make eye contact, but I don't like to.
I have "obsessions". I love yarn. I spend hours knitting. I've spent thousands of dollars on yarn that I will probably never use. I've learned to spin my own yarn. I spend hours online looking for knitting patterns. I have other obsessions too, but not as intense.
I think I feel a little relief getting the diagnosis, it seems to make sense.
I basically meant to say "hi" and introduce myself but I guess i got off track!

If you are doubting your diagnoses or questioning it, then I would say go for your second opinion. But if you have the inflexibility, the sensory issues, the stimming, troubles with reading people, problems with empathy, then you really do have it.

Welcome to Wrong Planet Craftbot!

I look forward to hearing your spin on things. (Sorry, that's the best name/hobby pun I could come up with on short notice)

I have all of the above. Plus the more I read on the forums, the more I'm convinced.
