Hi. My husband was diagnosed with AS this past Friday. He is my 2nd husband, and we married in September. I knew him for many years previously however, as we worked for the same software company in the 90s. I encouraged him to speak with someone. I have two small children and he has stepped into a Dad role so amazingly. I love him very much and he is very calm, and stable and interesting, always fascinating to me.

Anyway I suppose I am NT but I don't feel very typical. Quirky I think but different quirky than my husband.

I bought a bunch of books, including the Tony Attwood books and the UK books by the NT/AS couple, can't think of her name. We are doing some reading. At first the diganosis was probably more comforting to me, and upsetting to him but he reported last night settling in and feeling like he has always known it, just never acknowledged.

I hope to learn more about the world he lives in and his language because it does feel sometimes like we are in two different cultures.

Hi, and welcome to WrongPlanet to the both of you. Yes, the 'two cultures' idea is very astute. But cultures can be learned and adapted to. Have you read "Loving Mr. Spock?"
