Hi Im new here and been looking around the forum, you all seem like an awesome bunch of people.
I guess you could say I ma self diagnosed aspie, In only the last few days as a matter of fact.
Its because my son was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 (hes now almost 6) and I have been studying all I can and reading lots and googling everything I can think of to do with Autism that I could see a lot of these 'symptoms' and traits within myself. I did an "Autism test' that i got an as an iPhone app and I scored a 38. "Normal" range is 16 and to be classified autistic its a 32 or more so I guess im comfortably in the spectrum lol.
I always knew I was different but I just put it down to being I was shy and introverted and just a little nerdish and weird. When I was a kid I would never venture out in the middle of the playground and always stayed close to the buildings. I was terrified of being in the middle of a crowd...didn't like making friends at all. At home I would either be lost in a jigsaw puzzle for hours (I couldnt stop until it was finished) or spend hours reading an encylopedia while my siblings watched TV.
Now Im 46...have a good job in a bank and I suppose i have trained myself to try be normal. I suppose out of necessity we have to try and 'fit in'but I have always felt like an outcast.
I play guitar and love to get lost in music (I honestly think its the only thing that has saved me from going crazy)
I have absolutly no sense of direction and can gpo somewhere 20 times and still need the street directory to find the right street. That would constanly drive my wife insane.
Im now divorced....my ex told me that I didnt meet her needs and was distant all the time and she just got tired of the marriage and felt trapped and wanted out. I really still regret that but in a way I cant blame her.
Wow...sorry for rambling too much, i was just gonna say hi but found myself keep typing haha.
Oh, my name is Peter, nice to meet you all :)
