Hiya. I'm Gareth. I'm 41. I was diagnosed on Friday as having Asperger's Syndrome. A bit of a bombshell, but it does explain just about everything about me and my past. The bit about never having a girlfriend is the biggest pill to swallow, still nibbling on its edges, can't swallow it whole yet. The funny thing is, everyone loves me. I'm kind, gentle, loving, great character what-have-you, tons of 'friends' etc. Yet, I can't get close to anyone. Never have done. That hurts the most. But now that I know why not, I'm hoping things will change. Not that I think they will. 'You will find someone one day' is BS in my opinion [re forum subject]. I never have done yet, and I can't see it changing, to be honest.
The even funnier thing is, I'm modestly good looking too! I just can't read people though, can't react to them at the time etc, and I haven't a clue about signals and things. I think we're all the same there, aren't we?
Well, that's a bit about me. More to follow.....
By the way, if you want to link up on Facebook, feel free. I told everyone on Friday that I had been diagnosed and lots of people/friends gave me their kind support. I'm happier that they all know now. And everybody I know does know now! I've made sure of it. Feel free to call me a friend on Fb. More the merrier.
