Hello everyone, just joined after checking out the forum for a while.

I'm a 20 year old swedish guy diagnosed by a psychiatrist with AS at age 16.

It is a tough thing to live with, not the personality by itself for me but the social problems, and everything resulting from it such as depression and impaired self-confidence.

Childhood went for me along fine, but it took a turn, the teenage years and high school were terrible. I assume that time is particularly hard for "aspies."

Now hoping for the best of adulthood although I sometimes see a lot of challenges.

Glad to have taken the step into here!

Hey there. Welcome!

I know how you feel. I'm around the same age as well, and went through tough years but I find I'm coming back full circle to the peacefulness I had as a kid.

I'm not sure where this is from but I recall a quote: "No one can ever make you feel bad without your permission."

Childhood was great because of the freedom. I find the teenage years were bad because of trying to meet other's criteria/routine. When I stopped trying to be like everyone else, everything began to balance out. Be you, and be happy to be.

Welcome to WP! Yes, the problems that we face do change over time, depending on the workplace, social environment, living situation, etc. I worked in the hi-tech field for many years and was fortunate to have a lot of coworkers who were the same as me. Lots of fellow Aspie's there.
