Hey everyone,

Thought I'd say hi, as I just joined up today. I am thinking about getting formally assessed for AS, however I feel I won't be diagnosed as my symptoms are probably not severe enough. Anyhow, I thought this forum would be a good place to communicate with like-minded people as I certainly have "autistic traits".

I am currently writing my psychology Honours thesis on autistic traits in the general population, focusing on gender differences in particular.

I'm also a chromographic synaesthete, and an ISTJ

Cheers
yt

I can relate to that. I am in Sydney and I am also thinking about getting formally assessed ... and I have similar thoughts about maybe "not severe enough". I still think it is worth doing in my case, as I want to discuss CBT for some peculiar sensory issues, and I want the psychologist to understand how my brain works (and how it doesn't work!) before he tries to reprogram it.

Good luck with the thesis. Great topic!

I can completely see where you are coming from. As I'm sure is the same for a lot of people on this forum, I think it's important to get all the background information and details before starting a "project", in your case, CBT. I'm actually studying the basics of this technique in a few weeks at uni, should be interesting.
