Hi. I'm a new member to the group.

Well I knew I was a bit different from the other kids I grew up with but I just dealt with it in my own world. Since I have had my son who was diagnosed with AS a couple years ago, I really started getting more information on AS and found out that it was primarily genetic and most of the symptoms that encompass AS fit me.

Welcome! :)

I am kind of opposite you- I have a dad who is diagnosed, but I'm not. I've always known I was different too, but as I have been learning more about some of the ways in which AS affects males and females differently, and realizing that nearly every female symptom seems to be spot on with me, I am certain I have it as well.

Welcome to the transition - from a world where we're always trying to guess what will get us into the least trouble to a world where how we function is OK. Different, but OK.

Thank you everyone. It has been a transition. I've read the forums and taken multiple tests to give me a better understanding of what I most likely am. This is generally passed down through parents isn't it?

Hello,
Same here! I am also new to this forum. Joined last night but have been checking the place out for a while.
My son was recently diagnosed with Aspergers in Oct at age 20. It has been a shock
Since then , with all the research I have been doing, I am beginning to see this not only myself but my husband AND other son, not as extreme, but some definite characteristics in each of us.
I think that is why we never thought my son with the official diagnosis was overly strange in any way. He just had some stemming and compulsive behaviors, anxiety, not needing to socialize or go places.
Its been stressfull the last few months. But funny it wasn't stressfull until after diagnosis. now suddenly i feel we have to do something about this.
