5 year old daughter about to be diagnosed

Hey guys, just checking out this site. Pretty cool! My daughter Cadence (Cady) is showing signs of Asperger's, mildly. We haven't gotten help for her yet since it's darn near IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of anyone. She can't function in daycare anymore and is so extremely bored there that I'm sure everyday is torture. Just want to finally get help for her, from what I've read little kids need a professional to help them so they can become their best. That's all I want, her to be her best :lol:

Just a word of warning, many professionals are less likely to diagnose girls and for some reason attribute their symptoms to just plain anxiety. The reason being that many don't have extreme meltdowns like the boys have. They are also generally less extroverted than the boys. If for some reason the evaluator does not think she has AS, inquire further as to why.

I myself was a victim of a missed diagnosis. I went to a psychologist as a kid and he totally dismissed the symptoms. I had the lack of eye contact, poor social IQ, poor working memory, no friends, high verbal IQ, mildly hyperlexic, inflexible thinking, repetitive behavior... and he still didn't diagnose me. I didn't get diagnosed until college and I missed out on alot of valuable treatment time.
