Hello, my name is Bill and I'm a cadet at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. I was diagnosed with Asperger's back in my senior year of high school. Believe it or not, I completely forgot about my diagnosis until I was rudely reminded of it by a new series of social failures over the course of four college semesters. I've struggled for a long time with judging proximity, tending to stare, and speaking softly, which got me into trouble (unintentionally) with my peers at the Academy, particularly those of the opposite sex. It might be safe to say that I'm not too popular among the females at this school. I now blame Aspergers for all of my social difficulties, but it's refreshing to know what the issue was.
