Hi everyone, I'm new on here. I am 48 years old, and live in England. I have Aspergers, also my husband has Aspergers and our 9 year old son is currently going through tests as he is thought to also have it.
I have had previous relationships and been married before, but had always had difficulties , but with my current husband, I feel so relaxed and can be myself, instead of always having to try and pretend that i am 'normal'. I did not know my husband had Aspergers, and I didnt know that I had it, up till a few days ago. Seeing as our son is being tested, we looked it up and noticed that all the traits they list, happen to be our own natures, and we also did all the online tests, and we have the syndrome. we feel very relieved, and for once, we dont feel 'odd' any more. We have both spent our lives being told how to 'fit in' and have only ever felt sanctuary with each others company,
So there we have it, a household of people, all with Aspergers and in complete harmony with each other, and up untill a few days ago, none of us knew anything about Aspergers. !

Hi Wizzynoo and welcome from another female aspie. I am 51 yrs old and was diagnosed at 45. My hubby is NT with a few aspie traits, & I detect more than a few traits in our adult children.

Thanks everyone, for the warm welcome.
My mother asked me yesterday, whether i would of prefered to have Aspergers or not have it, and I replied that I much prefer to have it.
My only shock was to find out that so many more people also have the same personality as my own, or the same traits.
Having Aspergers hasnt helped me build up any friendships or helped me in a sociable way, but it has been a wonderful asset to have, when starting up a new business and making it successful. All the positive traits that us aspies have, have been used and have made things a success.
I have also found that I can actually have friends online. I play chess online, and also chat to others whilst playing and I have found I can make friends this way. I am in control and the friendship is kept at a distance, instead of in my face, and my lack of social skills doesnt seem a problem on the chess site.
Also having a partner who also is an aspie , helps so much.
